Te Ara Hou is a pathway to wellness, pursue the new pathway and you will find total wellness.
Te Ara Hou is a dedicated kaupapa Maaori alcohol and other drug service located in Weymouth, Counties Manukau. The service helps clients overcome alcohol and other drug addiction (including methamphetamine) and choose a better lifestyle for themselves and their whaanau. Te Ara Hou also offers a service that addresses methamphetamine.
Te Ara Hou Alcohol and Drug Residential Treatment Service is aligned to the Raukura Hauora o Tainui model of recovery called Niho Taniwha. This model supports recovery through learning about Kingitanga (Nation); Waikatotanga and values of our ancestors to provide cultural and therapeutic tools for ākonga; and whaanau transformation from Te Ara Tawhito (old behaviours) to Te Ara Hou (the new pathway).
Te Ara Hou also provides peer support to whaanau members who have been affected by the impact of alcohol and other drug use by their loved one, including one-to-one counselling and follow up support.
Eligibility
Males aged 18 years and over.
Referral
Referral may be via any source, including self-referral, whaanau, GP or other. To be accepted for the service an Alcohol and Drug Assessment must have been completed by a qualified assessor.
