Te Oho Ake - Rangatahi (Youth) Alcohol & Other Drug Community Services
Te Oho Ake comprises of a team of four qualified alcohol and drug youth workers, offering one-to-one mentoring and counseling to rangatahi. Te Oho Ake also provides alcohol and drug education programmes to the community to raise the awareness of alcohol and drug use and the effects of individuals, whanau and the wider community.
If you have a child, grandchild, niece or nephew, friend or anyone you care about using or abusing alcohol or drugs, Te Oho Ake is here to help. Our Team can help by carrying out Alcohol and Other Drug assessments and also offers a 10 week programme for Family Group Conferences.
Te Oho Ake adopts a Tikanga approach, teaching the importance of Whakapapa, Pepeha, Waiata, Karakia and Mihi. Te Oho Ake accepts referrals of all nationalities and gender, and maybe referred by Court Order. Other key criteria include:
- Must be 20 years or under
- Are using alcohol or drugs
- Are not in school or working
- Are willing to learn more about the effects of alcohol and drugs
There is no cost to the client to access Te Oho Ake services.
